It's a strange time to be looking for work in social impact. Some parts of the sector are booming ahead of the midterms, while others are navigating a tumultuous funding environment. The difference between landing a role right now isn’t just your experience — it’s how well you adapt to where the momentum is.That's why we're sharing what we're learning behind the scenes — to equip you with the tools you need to chart your career path, learn new skills, and find your next opportunity.

📈 How social impact hiring is changing:

  • Hiring has increased by 143%: We've seen a huge uptick in open roles on the All Hands job board in the past year with increased funding:

  • Operations demand remains high: We had more operations roles posted since 2026 started than any other function.

  • Digital marketing skills are on the rise: Marketing and communications roles were ranked #2 in terms of roles posted, but there were far more roles in digital marketing than communications.

  • Large chapter-based nonprofits, state political parties, and agencies hired the most. We saw far less hiring in civic tech and startups than years past.

The takeaway? Where you look — and how you position yourself — matters more than ever.
